Power Sensors for IoT Bluetooth Testing

LadyBug Technologies’ LB479A and LB480A are ideal for testing Bluetooth devices. These sensors have very good dynamic range and are suitable for measuring radiated power as well as direct connectivity to the Bluetooth DUT.  Both provide statistical pulse measurement capability. This capability is ideal for manufacturing test systems where a quick numerical measurement of average and pulse power are required without complex measurement set up. The LB480A includes triggering features along with pulse profiling capability. LadyBug sensors can be ordered with a variety of connectors reducing or eliminating adaptor requirements, thereby increasing measurement accuracy.

SFD-603903-12SF-N1 is an E Band amplitude detector capable of full or narrow band applications. The detector is zero biased and intended to be fabricated for small signal detection purpose. Based on the proprietary circuitry and careful diode selection, the detector exhibits high sensitivity and extremely flat output characteristics.

The detector is designed to have 10 MHz video bandwidth and 1 MΩ video output impedance. The minimum detectable signal level is approximately -50 dBm.

Amplical’s SW5A203 SP5T 2 to 18GHz miniature broadband absorptive PIN diode switch features low insertion loss, low vswr, high isolation and fast switching speed. J1, J2, J3, J4 and J5 ports are terminated in 50Ω when switched in the isolation (off) state. All RF ports incorporate DC blocks. An on-board TTL-compatible driver provides convenient logic control. High Pass Filter

To serve the 5G/WiGig research efforts, Spacek Labs is offering this waveguide high pass filter, model HPF-640, in a WR-15 waveguide. This filter is designed with a sharp cut off close to the passband and will pass the entire V-Band spectrum down to 57 GHz with an insertion loss of 1.0 dB typ and 1.5 dB max. The reject band is </= 55 GHz, with 20 dB rejection at 55 GHz and 40 dB at </=54 GHz. The SLP7100 limiter diodes are processed with a high-resistivity epitaxial wafer (epi) that has thin intrinsic layers. These devices are 2 to 20 microns thick and can be gold doped to achieve specific performance goals. The SLP7100 limiter diodes are used in passive or active limiter designs in the 100 MHz to 30 GHz frequency ranges and feature a low capacitance and resistance as well as a turn-on time as low as 5ns. These limiters come with a maximum input power ranging from +47 dBm to +66 dBm and a leakage output power from +19 dBm to +44 dBm. Rogers Corp. to Exhibit, Provide Education at DesignCon

Rogers Corp. will be exhibiting (booth # 702) and educating at the upcoming DesignCon ( Now in its 21st year, DesignCon is a premiere event for design chip-circuit-and system-level engineers working on high-frequency analog and high-speed digital circuits. DesignCon 2016 is scheduled for January 19-21, 2016 (January 20-21 for the exhibition) at the Santa Clara Convention Center (Santa Clara, CA).

On the conference side, John Coonrod, Technical Marketing Manager for Rogers Advanced Connectivity Solutions, and author of the popular ROG Blog series, will participate in a 75-minute panel discussion targeting effective measurement methods for high-frequency/high-speed printed-circuit-board (PCB) materials.

This technical presentation will focus, in particular, on frequencies above 10 GHz, as needed for a growing number of applications, including many emerging wireless communications systems. Conducted by the IPC D-24c task group ( on High Frequency Test Methods, the round-robin-style panel discussion (“Track 05: Characterize PCB Materials and Processing”) will explore the properties of some of the latest circuit materials and examine different methods for testing and characterizing those materials. Joining John Coonrod in the discussion will be Glenn Oliver, Senior Engineer at DuPont, and Don DeGroot, President of CCN.
