Wirewound Ferrite Beads

Coilcraft offers a broad range of wirewound ferrite beads in standard package sizes from 0201 (0603) to 1812 (4532). Superior attenuation and frequency performance enable smaller solution sizes compared to traditional thick-film chip ferrite beads. Ferrite beads are used as low pass filters to eliminate high frequency noise while allowing low frequency signals or DC current to pass through a circuit.

GNSS LNA

Skyworks announced its latest GNSS low-noise amplifier (LNA) front-end modules (FEMs), the SKY65933-11 and SKY65943-11. These turnkey GNSS connectivity solutions feature Skyworks’ proprietary TC-SAW filters, are designed specifically for IoT applications including smartwatches, action cameras, drones, asset trackers and personal navigation devices, and can be easily integrated by wireless module and IoT device manufacturers. Faraday Isolator

Model STF-06-91-C is a full band Faraday isolator that operates from 110 to 170 GHz. The Faraday isolator is constructed with a longitudinal, magnetized ferrite rod that causes a Faraday rotation of the incoming RF signal. The compact, robust package is ideal for system integration and testing applications and features a 90° twist between the input port and output port. The Faraday isolator offers 28 dB typical isolation and 3.0 dB nominal insertion loss with good flatness. The input and output ports are WR-06 waveguides with UG-387/U-M flanges. Band Reject Filter

Model JTIDS-0001-TNS is an ultra-small band reject filter centered at 1085 MHz. This filter rejects frequencies from 960 to 1210 MHz and was specifically designed for Military JDITS applications. Other specifications include notch Bandwidth of 250 MHz; passband insertion loss 6.0 dB; and VSWR of 2.0:1. Physical size is 1.5"L x 0.5"W x 0.5"H and contains TNC female IN/OUT connectors.

BGA Socket Design

Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced a new BGA socket design using high performance elastomer capable of 75GHz, very low inductance and wide temperature applications. The GT-BGA-2086 socket is designed for 21x21 mm package size and operates at bandwidths up to 75GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The socket is designed to dissipate few watts using compression screw and can be customized up to 300 watts with modified fin design on top of the screw and adding axial flow fan. The contact resistance is typically 30 milliohms per pin.

Analog Devices announced the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2 Precision, Fixed-Gain, Fully Differential Amplifiers, creating a family of ultra-precision fixed-gain variants of the successful LTC6363 amplifier. The new offerings are available in fixed gains of 0.5, 1 and 2V/V which provide flexibility when scaling inputs to the full range of ADCs. The precision resistors, which are integrated in LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2, have been designed with overall system performance in mind, striking a balance between noise and linearity, and utilizing laser trimmed factory calibration to achieve a level of precision which is difficult and costly to achieve discretely.

Tech Brief: YIG-Tuned Bandpass and Band-Reject Filters

Using small conductive “loops,” a YIG filter is coupled to and from a YIG sphere’s resonant magnetic field. The closer the loop, the wider the bandwidth. Bandwidth can also be expanded by increasing the number of YIG resonators and carefully “tuning” the RF coupling loops. In this brief, RF engineers will learn the three basic methods in which this coupling is applied: signal transfer; signal reflection; and oscillation feedback, and how this differentiates a bandpass from a band-reject filter.
