Programmable Attenuators Available in W, E, and V Band

SAGE Millimeter now offers full waveguide band high performance programmable attenuators in W, E, and V Band. Model STA-60-12-P8 is an instrumentation grade, high precision and high attenuation range motorized programmable attenuator for use in millimeterwave systems across the standard E-band frequency range of 60 to 90 GHz. The attenuation control and power interface is an integrated and pre-configured Lantronix Xport AR device with an Ethernet port (RJ45) which is used to accommodate remote operations from 0 to 60 dB and up to 70 dB attenuation value.

Rotating Joint Assembly for S-band Radar Applications

Link Microtek has successfully created and shipped a complex, one-meter-long microwave rotating joint assembly for a S-band ground-based radar. Allowing microwave signals to be fed to and from a radar antenna, such large rotating joint assemblies are an essential component of the S-band radar systems that are used around the world in air-traffic control, weather forecasting and shipborne applications.

High Impedance Laminates

Rogers Corp.’s MAGTREX 555 high impedance laminates enable antenna designers to miniaturize VHF and UHF antennas while maintaining the bandwidth achieved in a larger design. These laminates feature a closely matched X/Y axis permeability and permittivity of six and six and a half respectively, along with low magnetic and dielectric loss below 500 MHz. MAGTREX 555 laminates are based on a ceramic / PTFE composite system, manufactured in a process similar to Rogers Corporation’s popular RT/duroid® laminates.

DC/DC Converters for Telcom & Networking

Murata announces the 1 kW DRQ-11.4/88-L48 Series of quarter brick, intermediate bus, DC/DC converter modules that address the growing power requirements of high-reliability networking and telecommunications infrastructure equipment. The fully regulated DRQ-11.4/88-L48xx Series provides 11.4Vout at 88 A, with a Vin Range of 36 to 60Vdc, operating from 48Vdc battery systems or networking equipment that operates at 54Vin. This fully regulated, fixed frequency, 1 kW rated bus converter boasts an industry leading efficiency level of 97%.


RF Transceiver

Richardson RFPD, Inc. announced availability and full design support capabilities for a new RF transceiver from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). The ADRV9009 is tunable from 75 MHz to 6 GHz, providing designers with a single radio platform to accelerate the deployment of 5G, sustain 2G/3G/4G coverage, and simplify phased array radar design. The availability of a single platform reduces product design times by as much as half, while simplifying the deployment and maintenance of multi-band, multi-standard communications equipment.

Medical and military applications where a high capacitance value is required should consider the Novacap branded MLCCs from Knowles Precision Devices (KPD). Comparable circuit designs can be achieved at typically a third to a fifth of the capacitance values because of the low ESR characteristics these parts exhibit. These RoHS Compliant, High Capacitance value BME MLC chip capacitors, are manufactured in stable Class II dielectrics X7R and X5R. The range is offered with a spread of capacitance values starting at 6.8nF and topping out at 100μF.

Direct Reading Attenuator

SAGE Millimeter now offers full waveguide band high performance direct reading attenuators in W, E, and V Band. Model STA-60-10-D8 is an instrumentation grade, high precision and high attenuation range direct reading, rotary vane attenuator for use in millimeter wave test set across the standard W-band frequency range of 75 to 110 GHz. It has a large scale calibrated dial which indicates the attenuation value directly. The attenuator is an ideal piece of equipment in waveguide systems where a broad direct reading of attenuation is required. It exhibits exceptional repeatability during frequent attenuation setting operations.

Signal/Spectrum Analyzer: 2 GHz Internal Analysis Bandwidth

Rohde & Schwarz is expanding the internal analysis bandwidth of its R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyzer up to 2 GHz by introducing the new R&S FSW-B2001 option. This test solution enables R&D users to investigate wideband signals in detail without the need for an external digitizer.

The R&S FSW-B2001 option provides 14-bit ADC resolution and wide dynamic range, characterized by excellent SFDR figures, for example -65 dBc for 1200 MHz bandwidth. This translates directly into outstanding signal analysis performance.

Reference Design

Richardson RFPD announced availability and full design support capabilities for a new reference design from RECOM Power, Inc. (RECOM). The R-REF01-HB reference design consists of a half-bridge suitable for voltages up to 1kV and a fully-isolated driver stage with isolated power supplies for the low-side and the high-side switching transistors. It is suitable for single-gate drive supply voltages as low as +4 V and dual-gate drive supply voltages as high as +20 V / -5 V (30 V max), with no maximum duty cycle limitations.
